Kate Abromovitch has been named the girls’ varsity basketball head coach at Haverhill High School.
Abromovitch returns to her alma mater with coaching experience at all levels. She coached at the high school level for a decade in Connecticut. She started her career as a Division 1 women’s basketball assistant coach, coaching at both Fairfield University and Fordham University.
Abromovitch was the first 1,000 point scorer for either boys or girls in the history of Haverhill High School. A 1989 graduate, she earned All-America honors, was a three-time All-MVC selection and led the Hillies to girls’ basketball MIAA state championships in 1987 and 1989. She went on to score 1,494 points at Fairfield University.
She was inducted into both the Fairfield University and Haverhill High School Hall of Fames. She was also enshrined to the “The MAAC Experience” exhibit at the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
